How lovely that you want to give an experience like this your granddaughter. Have you looked at Finders Seekers? Our family really likes that one right now. My review is here: https://researchparent.com/finders-seekers-a-review/

Thank you for your review! Im looking at this for my granddaughter who is turning 11. Sounds like maybe she's too old for this? I know you believe its expensive but i dont mind that - i just want to get her something cool that comes in the mail (i got her brother a national geographics for kids subscription so id like something in a similar vein). Anything else you liked better for an 11 year old?

Hi SJ! It's been 3 years and honestly, I'm having a little trouble remembering what I meant by this. I *think* what I meant is that since our family was opening the packages, one at a time, all together, we opened the last one and there is was! It's probably just me, but I think the adventure was over too fast and I wished I had opened that last package on my own before my kids saw it, then removed the treasure and hidden it somewhere with a note. It could have even said something as simple as, "look behind the oak tree in the backyard." Or maybe I would have done something more cryptic and given them one last puzzle to solve. I think I just wanted to draw out the excitement a little more!

Thank you for this great write-up. Can you please explain to me what you mean about hiding the treasure box? Does the letter indicate you should hide it or what would you do if you could do it over again?

In reply to <a href="https://researchparent.com/mail-order-mystery-treasure-hunt/#comment-264855">Tanya</a>.

Hi Tanya! It's so funny that you're commenting on this post today! We literally just finished their Case of the Missing Bigfoot a couple hours ago! We've been getting "packages" for the past week. I don't remember how big the Treasure Hunt one was, but the Case of the Missing Bigfoot came in a box that is 9.5" x 12.5" x 3" and according to the postage, it weighed 2 lb 12 oz. I think they liked this one even better than the first one. At the end, they got a little mini messenger bag and notebook with some cool cards about cryptids. I thought they might fight over it, because it's actually pretty high quality, but my daughter ended up getting the bag. I don't think it is, but maybe my boys that it was a little too purse-like. If they were younger, there would have been a huge fight over it! Anyway, we all had fun. I have my eye on Spies, Lies, and Serious Bad Guys next, but I'll probably wait until the next time they have a sale, which is not very often! Maybe Black Friday. Have fun on your trip!
