To be fair, my kids are fans of any picture book that involves cartoon butts. They were clearly the target audience for this book as all four of them were laughing out as we followed the poor protagonist’s clothing struggles. Any book that appeals to the wide age range of my brood (4 to 11 years) is a winner as far as I’m concerned.

Interestingly, this book is so simple, with few words per page and yet it clearly appealed more to my older kids than my younger ones at first. My 8 year old had read it ahead of the family and told us all that it was super hilarious. Her older brother got the humor right away. However, four year old was at fist confused about what was going on. The idea that a kid would try to go through life stuck inside his clothes was too absurd for my preschooler to wrap his mind around.
However, once I stopped to explain to him what was going on, he got the joke too. Then on the page where he tries to take his pants off? My kids were practically rolling on the floor laughing. Once the cartoon butt came out, the hysterics reached another level.
I’ll be honest. Naked cartoon butts are not really my thing. However, anything that brings my kids that much joy is something I can fully get behind.
