Personal Family Favorites

My best-books-for-kids lists contain books that are most likely to universally appealing to kids. However, my own kids’ personal family favorites don’t always come from these authoritative guides. Rather than being carefully chosen, many of these books were haphazardly selected during one of our frequent library trips. I admit I probably influenced the outcome of these favorites to some degree (mainly by returning books that were driving me insane to the library). However, the books that made it onto these lists below are 100% endorsed by my own children.

In fact, I can’t begin to understand some of the choices on these lists, despite reading them dozens of times. However, whether I agree with the selections or not, each book has been well-loved and gone through a period of being often requested by at least one of my kids. I make no promises regarding the literary worthiness or widespread appeal of these books, though I will admit that I love many of them as well. (Although, I’d probably love them more if I hadn’t read them a couple hundred times).
