My 7 and 9 year olds thought this book about Wolfie the Bunny was HILARIOUS. I thought it was really funny as well. I’m pretty sure it went over the heads of my 3 and 5 year olds a bit. During the first reading I think my 5 year old in particular was concerned about the direction this book was heading. After confirming that the ending would be happy, I think he enjoyed it more the second time around.

Comments: It’s not often that my kids and I find the same books funny. What is funny to me sometimes goes over their heads and what is funny to them is often just potty humor that has me rolling my eyes. The humor in this book reached both me and my elementary aged kids. My 2 year old definitely did not understand why it was funny and I think my 4 year old might have been a little concerned as well.
This book would be great to read to kids with a new baby in the family, especially when the kids are not fully onboard with the recent addition. The book shows goo-goo eyed parents who completely overlook the fact that their new baby is a wolf. The clear-eyed assessment of the “big sister” had my kids laughing everytime she stated that he was going to “eat us all up!”
In the end, the main character not only accepts her “baby brother,” but protects him against a bad guy in an empowering, hilarious confrontation.
