Now that my kids are getting older, I’m starting to get more excited to play with some of their “toys”. I would still say the predominant focus of my 5-year-old is fantasy play, as it has been for the past few years. However, he also enjoys playing more complicated games and goes through phases where he’ll do the same puzzle over and over again for weeks.
Here are some suggestions for the best gifts for 5-year-olds that the 5-year-old in my life has enjoyed over long periods of time. Some of these gifts are educational as well, but the primary reason they are recommended is because they are fun. (5 year olds are not well known for their tactful reception of gifts they perceive as “not-fun” like sweaters for their birthday.)
