Just as it’s fascinating to consider the grand scale of the universe, it’s also pretty crazy to think about the world on a microscopic level. My 5 year old likes to tell people we’re all made of atoms which are so small that you can’t see them. I’m not sure he understands what that means, but he’s definitely latched onto the words I’ve been telling him.
At one point, I tried to tell my kindergartner the atoms that made up his body may have been inside a dinosaur or a cloud or a star a long, long time ago. He didn’t believe me.
Chemistry has the potential to be a really fun subject to learn. Anyone who has mixed together baking soda and vinegar in front of a child knows that chemical reactions are extremely appealing to young children. Here are some chemistry-related activities that I hope your kids enjoy:
