Tabletop games for late elementary is when the real fun starts. This is the age at which certain family members can get really competitive. Many of these games require significant critical thinking skills to be successful. Younger kids can frequently participate, but not at the level of your 10 or 11 year old.
At the moment, our entire family plays nearly every game together. That means when we play more challenging games, we frequently have to add a few house rules to make it more fair for the younger players. However, once in awhile, when my 5th grader wakes up before everyone else, we will pull out one of these tougher games and let our competitive streaks run free.
Thankfully, there are many just-for-fun, less competitive games that our younger kids love and my 5th grader thinks are fun too. These ones are perfect for family bonding. Everyone loves a good family game night.
Below are some games our family has enjoyed for late elementary (5th and 6th grade). Click on each game below for a detailed review.
Family Favorites
The games below are favorites of my late elementary aged kids and are enjoyed by the whole family. If you are going to invest in a game, these are the ones that I highly recommend.
All Late Elementary Games
Here are all the late elementary games that our family has enjoyed along with some thoughts about our experiences playing them. Some of these games might be favorites of the older age groups, though late elementary aged kids are able to play as well with help. Others are favorites of younger kids and enjoyed by late elementary kids as well, but I probably wouldn’t invest in them specifically for those older kids.
