Looking for great kids’ books? I’ve compiled lists of the “Best Books for Kids” for each age group (babies through middle school) using a complicated process involving cross-referencing multiple authoritative sources. (Yes, I am a nerd.) No, I don’t think that all the best kids’ books are located using this geeky method. I can’t even guarantee that all of the books discovered using this method are truly amazing.
However, there is one thing I know for sure. There are a WHOLE LOT of kids’ books out there. It is truly intimidating to even ponder the vast amount of children’s literature that exists. No single human being has time to go through even a small fraction of it, so by compiling these lists, I’ve basically defined a more manageable goal for myself.
As my kids grow into each age range, I hope to present them with at least all of the books in these best books for kids guides. All I can say is that so far, for us, the experience has been worthwhile.
If you don’t care what the experts think and would like to know which kids’ books a few real kids (namely, my own) prefer, here are my children’s personal favorites. (I make no promises that the books on these lists are of stellar quality. I’ve been faithful to my own kids’ preferences and, sometimes, there’s no accounting for taste.)
It is also important to me that my kids become hooked on reading. I want them to read for pleasure anytime they have a spare moment. One of the ways I encourage this mindset is by trying to get them addicted to a book series. I hope you find one here your child will love!
