The table below includes all the humorous parenting books I’ve reviewed so far. As a parent, I feel like this category of book is so important. Not only do funny books about parenting make us laugh and lift our spirits, but they remind us of how common our situations and daily struggles are. They are also a reminder not to take our parenting problems too seriously.
Honestly, maybe there’s something wrong with me, but I LOVE reading about other parents’ difficulties. When my kids start acting up in a store, there are times I want to lock them in the car and leave them there (though, for the record, I never have). When someone else’s kids act up in a store, I think, “Yep. I’ve been there.” I have so much sympathy for the mother and a lot more patience and understanding for the children. It’s valuable to see ourselves and our situations once in awhile from someone else’s point of view. More than any other style of parenting book, there are definitely times when it’s a funny book about another parent’s experiences that puts me in the right frame of mind to face my kids.
