Comments: This is an awesome toy. We also own the cutting fruit version. The food pieces are stuck together with Velcro, so a wooden knife easily “cuts” them apart. At 18 months my kids loved cutting all the pieces. My son pretty much couldn’t stand to see all the food in one piece. I would re-assemble everything when he wasn’t looking and he would feel obligated to cut everything up as soon as he noticed. He wasn’t going to let an opportunity like that go to waste.
The great thing is that he’s now almost 4 and more into make-believe play and still uses this toy regularly when he’s playing restaurant. It’s a favorite with his little sister and when other kids come over to play as well. I don’t understand why the official recommended age is 3+, because this toy seems totally safe (no chocking hazards) and 1 and 2 year olds love it too.
