Two years old is a great age. The world is a mystery that toddlers are determined to figure out, whether it’s a baby toy, a big kid toy, or a grown up appliance. When you are 2, nothing new is uninteresting. Everything is worthy of exploration. For that reason, a 2 year old can be both easy and difficult to shop for. Any gift will hold their attention for several minutes, but lots of toys will be cast aside after the first play session. Below are some of the items in our house that have sustained our 2 year old’s interest over long periods of time.
Since toddlers are so interested in their parent’s world and have a strong desire to “help”, some of my favorite more elaborate gifts for 2 year olds are kits that help them participate in grown up chores and activities. Some of my toddler’s favorite gifts have been themed kits such as a cooking kit with measuring cups, measuring spoons, a rolling pin, and a toddler cookbook (affiliate link for the one our family uses). My son also once received a bucket with a bunch of cleaning supplies (scrub brushes, sponges, squirt bottles, a small dust pan, and some rags). These 2 gifts were among the best I’ve ever seen for a 2 year old. They both have gotten a lot of use in our family over the years.
