Comments: I read this book when my older kids were ages 4, 6, and 8. It was a pretty simple, calm story. I was surprised by how short it was. I think we finished it in under a week. If kids are used to a lot more stimulating stories, they might think this one is a little boring. However, if they enjoy stories like the Little House series, then I think they will really like this.
The story is about a young girl named Anna who lives on the prairie with her dad and younger brother, Caleb. Her mother died during childbirth several years before. The dad decided to put out an advertisement for a mail-order bride and Sarah comes to stay with them from Maine. The kids fall in love with her, but are worried that she misses the sea and will not stay. It is a very sweet story with a happy ending.
